Ted Hannon's 2-day North of England Run usually takes place on the second weekend in May and is one for the 'big boys' as no buses or light commercials are allowed to take part.
Whitwood Truck Stop, Castleford was the start point for most of those taking part in the 2002 Run, but in keeping with the friendly atmosphere of this event, entrants are free to join at any point along the route.
The first day saw the vehicles travelling from Castleford to Carlisle via Harrogate, Skipton, Kendal, Shap, Penrith and Keswick. Day two was from Carlisle to The Little Bistro Cafe near Leeming via Brampton, Hadrian's Wall, Hexham, Tow Law, West Auckland and Pierce Bridge.
Two days of clear blue sky, breathtaking scenery, steep gradients & open roads, that allow for high speed running, all combine to enable the vehicles to be seen at their very best.
Atkinson, ERF, Foden, Bedford, Commer, Volvo, AEC, International, GMC, Scammell, Seddon, Vulcan, Albion, Leyland, Austin, Scania, Dodge, Guy and Sentinel are all represented. Body types range from flatbeds and tippers right through to a car transporter.
Unobtrusive commentary by JIM WILKIE.
Stereo sound. BBFC Exempt.
Recorded & edited on DV in Stereo, this film is available in DVD format.
